Electronic Cargo Tracking Note
Embassy Logistic Terms: Electronic Cargo Tracking Note
A number of countries in Africa require a waiver document for all import shipments. For example, an ECTN or Electronic Cargo Tracking Note is required for all shipments going to the following countries:
Burkina Faso: Ouagadougou
Burundi: Bujumbura
Central African Republic: Banqui
Chad: Ndjamena
Congo: Pointe Noire
Equatoriaal-Guinea: Bata, Luba en Malabo
Guinea: Conakry
Libya: Misurata, Tripoli, Benghazi en El Khoms
Niger: Niamey
Senegal: Dakar
South Sudan
Togo: Lomé
This way the authorities in the countries of destination have access to all information in the “pre-arrival phase”.
The information contained in the waiver document, is as follows; Shipper and consignee names, mode of transport, description of the cargo and its value, name of the transport vessel and the cost of shipment. The authorities in the country of destination must be in possession of the waiver document prior to arrival of the vessel.
Each country has their own regulations for waiver documentation and in fact, some countries have a different name for the document.
